Abstract

In this study researchers used a qualitative approach. The method for analyzing data is descriptive analysis, which is a method that discusses problems by presenting data findings from research subjects to draw conclusions based on theoretical studies that have been carried out previously. The data collection technique is library research, namely by searching for materials in the form of books, loose articles or searching data using internet media.

For Gusdur the best da'wah is with a cultural approach or cultural da'wah. A person who preaches does not have to be done formally, that is, a da'i does not have to insert verses from the Koran or the Hadith of the Prophet. And the most important thing for a da'i is to minimize the enforcement of amr ma'ruh nahi munkar by coercion or violence. On the other hand, efforts to maintain pluralism for Gusdur are a constitutional obligation to protect every citizen's rights. For Gusdur, the struggle to spread the values of pluralism is a religious order, as a divine reality in creating different creatures.

Da'wah is an attempt by a da'i to invite and offer people to the path of goodness according to Islamic principles. For da'wah practitioners, the most basic thing is how to package or the method used for preaching. In this case, Gus Dur prioritized cultural da'wah, namely a method of da'wah using local cultural approaches, while at the same time rejecting forms of da'wah with acts of violence. Thus the maintenance of the value of pluralism as part of the cultural heritage is maintained.
